Sting sends Pescara into a frenzy. One hundred thousand applaud him...
Over one hundred thousand people, according to police figures, attended Sting's free concert last night in Pescara, near the old train station. The concert concluded his Italian tour, during which the English rock star presented his new album, 'Mercury Falling,' complemented by his most famous songs from the past. The concert was organized by the Abruzzo Region in collaboration with the provincial and municipal administrations of Pescara to promote Abruzzo as Europe's greenest region, with its three national parks and numerous nature reserves. Before taking the stage, after a brief performance by Antonella Ruggiero (former singer of Matia Bazar), Sting reiterated his commitment to the environment. He then skilfully blended the album's 21 tracks with classics from his repertoire, such as 'Every Breath You Take,' 'Fragile,' and 'Every Little Thing.' The influx to the concert area had begun in the morning (by 2 p.m. there were already almost two thousand): the event, exceptional for Pescara and the whole of Abruzzo, forced the Municipality to block access to the heart of the city, connected by special shuttle buses.
